Autumn has a strange way of reminding us that life and death are realities of our existence on earth. The leaves turn red and gold and parachute down to the cold earth below. However, nature constantly reminds us of the hope of spring, even though the chill of winter often seems to linger too long. Anne’s hope in the midst of her “winter” is a timeless theme repeated in various poems and stories throughout time. Now it’s your turn. Write about some aspect of life and death for this week’s “speak out” prompt.

Write a 200 to 300 word letter to other 8th graders about a book that you couldn’t put down. Explain why the book was awesome without giving away the ending! Make sure you write your “letter” with an 8th grade audience in mind!!
